Alumni Golf Tournament

Fr. Sullivan Alumni Golf Tournament .This year's tournament will be
held at Ramblewood Golf Club on Monday, June 2nd. Registration will begin at 11:30. A putting contest will precede the 1:15 shotgun start. As usual, our format will be best ball of foursome.

This golf tournament is named for Rev. John Sullivan who spent over twenty years of his life serving the Gloucester Catholic community. "Sully" was a friend to all who came in contact with him. We name the tournament in his honor to carry on the spirit of commitment that he gave to Gloucester Catholic. Profit from this tournament help fund Alumni Scholarships and the Athletic Department. New GCHS Scholarships Established

This past school year the Alumni Office is pleased to announce the establishment of four new scholarships: The Doris Underwood Memorial Scholarship sponsored by Michelle Lanciano ‘81 and family; The Ginger Dougherty Scholarship sponsored by her son Joe McComb ‘89; The Scott Kaplan Memorial Scholarship establish by a friend of the family. Finally the children of Robert Keenan have established a scholarship in his name.
Alumni scholarship are a wonderful way to honor living and deceased family members. To establish a scholarship please contact Pat Murphy at the alumni office.

James "Zonk" Rodgers Alumni Softball Game

Senior Tiffany Fisher was the winner for of the this year’s James “Zonk” Rodgers Scholarship. An alumni softball game between GCHS vs. GHS supports this award.

Browning Ross Bob Kupcha Race

4th Annual Browning Ross / Bob Kupcha 5k Run, 1 Mile Walk, And Kids Fun Run. The events took place on March 22, 2008 at Haddon Lake Park, Mt. Ephraim. Registration was at 8:00 AM and kids fun run and 1 mile walk started at 8:45. 5k started at 9:00 AM. Kids run free! Long Sleeve T-Shirts to first 50 registrants. Alumni Communion Breakfast

The Annual GCHS Alumni Mass and Communion Breakfast took place on Sunday, November 4th with GC chaplain Rev. Chuck Colozzi as the celebrant and homilist. More than 400 guests attended the event. This year the Alumni Association honored a record 49 students as Gloucester Catholic Alumni Scholars and the organization donated more than $10,000 for students in need of financial aid.

The Frank and Catherine Kelly Award was presented to Tom Heim ’63. A Woodbury attorney, Tom has served as the Municipal Court Judge in Woodbury Heights for many years. He was also named Gloucester County “Lawyer of the Year” and headed Gloucester County's Human Relations Commission. His wife Anne is the GCHS math department chair.

Kathy Campbell Dougherty ‘82 was honored with the 2007 John and Jackie O’Donnell Award. Kathy is a long time member of the Alumni Board. She is the coordinator of the “Kathy Campbell Memorial Golf Tournament”, an event that honors the memory of her mother and provides tuition assistance for many GCHS students.

The Thomas Stewart Memorial Award recognizes an individual who provides extraordinary service to the wider community. This year’s recipient was Ann Gorman ‘82. An attorney, Ann is an alumni board member who provides hundreds of hours of legal services to the poor and needy of Camden County. She is also involved in many charitable organizations.

Communion Breakfast Will Benefit Dr. David Coghlan Young Catholic Leader Award

The first Dr. David T. Coghlan Scholarship Communion Breakfast took place on Sunday, March 25 at Gloucester Catholic High School. A memorial Mass preceded the breakfast and the Rev. Philip Burroughs S.J., Vice President for Mission and Ministry at Georgetown University, was the keynote speaker.

The Dr. David T. Coghlan Young Catholic Leader Award will provide tuition assistance to deserving eighth grade students who hope to attend a diocesan high school. Nominations for the award will be processed by diocesan elementary schools. Contributions to this fund may be mailed to the attention of Sister Dawn Gear at the Catholic Schools Office, 631 Market Street, Camden, New Jersey 08102.

GCHS Expands Alumni Board of Trustees

The Gloucester Catholic High School Alumni Association adopted a new constitution, expanding and restructuring its board. On January 25th, 2004, Principal John Colman welcomed 22 members of the new Board of Directors. Vice Principal Father Perry Cherubini celebrated Mass in the Dominican Center Chapel and the new board gathered for a breakfast in the Library. 

Alumni Association President Tom Iacovone explained the goals and the role of the Board that will formally begin operation during the 2004-05 school year. He especially praised members of the current executive board for their contributions to the success of the organization.

Members of the new Board of Directors include alumni from the last five decades and represent the Gloucester Catholic community with their varied educational, professional and life experiences. New members include: 

bullet Dr. James Bonner ‘72 is an emergency room physician and a member of the Board of Directors at Underwood-Memorial Hospital. 
bullet Sister Teresa Bruno ‘63, a sister of Charity, serves as Assistant Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Camden. 
bullet Jim Delaney ‘86 is an alumnus of the US Naval Academy and is a graduate student at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
bulletKathy Campbell Dougherty ‘82 is an elementary school teacher and an adjunct professor at Gloucester County College. 
bullet Ann M. Gorman ‘83, an attorney, is the Deputy director of South Jersey Legal Services
bullet Dr. Patrick Harker ‘77 is the Reliance Professor of Management and Private Enterprise and Dean of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
bulletThomas G. Heim ‘63 is a Woodbury attorney and a municipal judge. 
bullet Dr. Elaine Budesa Hill ‘69 is Director of Special Services for the Voorhees Township School system.

GCHS Annual Fashion Show

Gloucester Catholic’s Fourth Annual Fashion Show & Basket Auction, Treasures of the South Pacific, will be held at Lucien’s Manor in Berlin on Thursday, April 17, 2008. Last year our show was a huge success and sold out immediately. Therefore, we are encouraging everyone to get her tickets early as seating is limited. FASHION SHOW SEEKS SPONSORS
The Fashion Show Committee seeks sponsors to offset the cost of the event. Our program book offers the opportunity to promote your business and to support the GCHS Development Fund.
