Validating the Vision
What is it?
 | Validating the Vision is an assessment protocol for mission
effectiveness, institutional accreditation, and strategic
planning in the Catholic high school. It is published by the
National Catholic Educational Association and was written by
Mary Frances Taymans, SND, Ed.D. |
What is its purpose at GCHS?
 | This is the protocol we have chosen to use in seeking our
re-accreditation with the Middle States organization. |
What's happening right now at GCHS, in terms of VTV?
 | The Planning Team will be meeting on October 7th to finalize
our new Strategic Plan and to give its final approval to the
documents which will be presented to the Visitation Team. |
 | The Planning Team, in collaboration with the faculty and
administration, took the ideas from the faculty, added some of
its own, looked at the results of our State of the School
self-assessment and created 4 separate objectives for our new
Strategic Plan. |
 | The faculty brainstormed possible ideas for new
objectives, which were discussed and debated by the full
Planning Team on March 4, 2008. |
 | The Planning Team is finished reviewing, discussing
and editing the State of the School report drafts completed by
the faculty committees. |
 | We have surveyed the various stakeholder
groups associated with our school. Invitations to complete a VTV
survey were sent out to all parents and over 500 alumni. Over
200 of the students were also surveyed during this process.
We are using the collected survey data in the formulation of
our new strategic plan. Thanks to everyone who took the time to
complete the survey! |
 | The faculty completed initial, rough drafts of our State of
the School report. |
 | The Planning Team has met a number of times already this
year. One of the most significant accomplishments of those
meetings was the completion of the "Appraisal Rubric", which
summarizes our progress, to date, on our existing 7-year
strategic plan. You can view a summary of the team's conclusions
