GC Wins Teen Arts Awards
Fifteen Gloucester Catholic High School art students garnered state
awards and nine took county honors in the visual arts competition at
the annual Camden County Arts 4 Teens Festival. In addition, eight
students won prizes in creative writing, four took honors with their
vocal selections, and three students received recognition in dance.
The annual event on the campus of Rutgers University in Camden is
sponsored by the Camden County Cultural and Heritage Commission.
“Our students always make us proud at this event, but this year was
our best showing ever”, commented GCHS art instructor
Dave Sipple. “We are
especially proud that our students were recognized in writing, dance
and voice. Gloucester Catholic is making a name for itself in the
creative arts scene”.
Students receiving state recognition include Brooke Carrero, Tamara
Larose, Kelli Weichert, Reina Stazzone, Erika Ranger, Elaina Unger,
Bryan Cheesman, William Malone, Alicia Cendejas, Angela Gattuso,
Vincent Trovato, Brianne Foschini, Celeste Crane, Jeff Hansen and
Christy Clifford. County honors went to Sean Fee, Vincent Faragasso,
Ariel Rofrano and Anthony Walsh.
Best of County awards in creative writing awards were earned by
Joseph Rafferty, Elaina Unger and Bridget Wills. Honorable Mention
recognition in writing went to Erin Benson, Nicholas Ciocco, Angela
Gattuso, Ryan Mehafey, and Gregory Zuccarelli.
In the dance competition, Steve May was Best of County in Tap, while
Kim Sanders and Andrew Ruggieri won Best of County in Lyrical Duo
Category. Karen Kane and Andrew Ruggieri were selected Best of
County in vocal and Celeste Crane and Matt Hayden took Honorable
Mention.
