AP Chemistry - Ms. Susan Johansson
Purpose:
AP Chemistry is chemistry plus. It is a college credit course
and it comes with the same difficulties and gratification that
one would have in college. In addition to getting college
credit, it is a great preparation for students higher education
studies. In the Spring of each year the student is required to
take the College Board Exam. Our Guidance Department will
administer the exam. There is a charge.
Requirements:
- Students should have a basic understanding of General
Chemistry.
- A college level state text will be given to each student. A
Barrons Guide will also be used. Students will be required to
purchase them.
- Students should READ the assignments in the text and STUDY
the corresponding sections in Barrons and do the practice
questions.
- Taking notes in lectures is essential and helpful.
- Labs are needed and students must submit reports.
- Good study habits are a must. Please feel free to ask me for
any study tips.
- The Barrons AP Chem review should be used and studied all
the time.
Evaluation:
- Tests will be given based on the chapters studied. The
questions will be similar to those given on the College Board
Test and Barrons.
- A lab grade will be given based on the reports submitted.
College Board Exam:
The school will notify you during the summer break. The grades are from
1-5. Colleges will use these grades to determine eligibility.
