Anatomy & Physiology - Dr. Jay Simmons

Goal:

Anatomy and Physiology is the study of form and function of the human body. Its purpose is to create an interest in how our bodies look and feel. Its approach is very practical and allows students to relate to their own and family experiences.

Study Suggestions

In class, each chapter will be discussed. The students should then study the material and do the key terms and the review questions in their assignment notebook. The assignment notebook will be periodically checked. Tests will be based on the assignments.

Labs:

The labs will be an important adjunct to the material learned in class. Students will have a lab manual on the dissection of the cat, which they will follow and study. Safety in the lab is a primary concern. Material learned in the lab will be included in the tests. Students will receive a lab grade that will be determined by their dissection and their decorum in the lab.

Optional Paper:

Each quarter, the student has the option of preparing a report on a disease associated with the material discussed in class.

Evaluation

There will be a test on each chapter. A complete review will precede each test along with a format. Lab material will be included in the tests.

Test Average + Lab Grade (one test) + optional paper = GRADE
