Biology - Dr. Jay Simmons

Description:

Biology is the study of living things, including humans. The course is directed to students to learn about the interaction of all living things. Its purpose is to learn the practical aspects of Biology and how they apply to every day living experiences.

Suggestions for study:

  1. Chapters in the text will be assigned.
  2. Study each chapter and do the vocabulary, multiple choice, and completions in your assignment book.
  3. Notebook: each student will keep a notebook for Biology. This notebook should only be used for biology. It should include:
    1. all assignments
    2. all material outlined on the blackboard
    3. all diagrams

Labs:

A lab manual will contain exercises and must be completed on the same day.

  1. Lab reports are due following the exercise
  2. Safety in the lab is paramount
  3. Misconduct in the lab is serious and will be punished

Evaluation:

  1. Tests will be given on each chapter.
  2. Notebooks will be graded each quarter and will count as a test.
  3. A lab grade will be given each quarter and will count as a test.

Summary:

test average + notebook + lab grade = quarter grade

Best wishes for a great year.
