Textbook

America: Pathways to the Present

Objectives

Gain an understanding of the people, places, facts, concepts, geography, etc. comprising United States History from the Era of Reconstruction until post-WWII (1865-1945).

Grade Breakdown

bullet60% Tests
bullet20% Quizzes
bullet20% Homework/In-Class Assignments

Tests

Given at the end of every chapter or multiple sections. Graded out of 100 points and can include multiple choice, matching, fill-ins and essays. Tests are based on notes, in-class assignments, material covered in text and supplemental material. Usually given 2-3 days notice and a comprehensive written or oral review the day before the test.

Quizzes

Based on notes. Can be given without notice. Also based on current events and maps relevant to topics covered. 

Homework / Classwork

Must be handed-in and completed for full credit. Class participation is included here.

Extra Credit

Given periodically throughout marking period. May entail a myriad of assignments or anything approved by me. It will not be given at the end of the marking period.

Make-up Work

If you are absent you must see me to see what you missed. It’s your responsibility If you neglect to see me or schedule a make-up for tests and quizzes within 3 days then it equals a ZERO!!!!

Rules

  1. RESPECT!!!! FOR RULES FOR SELF, FOR OTHERS, FOR GCHS.
  2. RAISE HAND WHEN WANTING TO SPEAK.
  3. LOOK PRESENTABLE- UNIFORM, ETC.
  4. BE HERE ON TIME. LATENESS IS IRRESPONSIBILITY. BE IN YOUR SEAT WHEN BELL RINGS READY TO KICKOFF.
  5. 5 P’S- PROPER PREPARATION PREVENTS POOR PERFORMANCE
  6. DO THE RIGHT THING!!!

ANY VIOLATION OF THESE RULES, RULES OUTLINED IN GCHS HANDBOOK OR SUB-RULES WILL RESULT IN PENALTIES. THIS CAN RANGE FROM REPRIMAND, PERSONAL DETENTION OR REFERRAL TO ADMINISTRATION.
