Psychology - Mrs. Beth Quinn

Welcome back! I hope Psychology class will be a challenge this year. I want you to be prepared to work and participate. I respect and appreciate hard-working students, and you will be rewarded for your efforts.

Parents: I prefer email for communication about questions and concerns you may have about your student. However, you may always leave a message for me with the main office at 456-4400. On a weekly basis, I will post tests, quizzes and assignments on www.homeworklive.com. Both parents and students can set up accounts; go to the website and follow the directions. If there is a problem please contact the Guidance Office.

CLASS RULES

  1. Respect for each other, teacher, school and the classroom.
  2. Be ready! Be seated and ready to begin when the bell rings.
  3. Be prepared for class everyday. This includes textbook, notebook, and folder.
  4. Follow all school policies especially appropriate uniform, lateness, attendance, and academic honesty. AGENDA BOOKS are necessary to leave the room!

SUPPLIES

  1. Covered textbooks
  2. Writing utensils
  3. Spiral notebook for class notes
  4. Folder for all handouts for the currents quarter's work

GRADING POLICY

All work will be graded based on grade range found in the Student Handbook. I will hold each student accountable for his/her work and will contact parents by phone if necessary.

bulletTests = 1/2 of grade
bulletQuizzes = 1/3 of grade
bulletClasswork/Homework = 1/6 of grade

Semester projects will count as two test grades.

MAKE-UP WORK

Students are responsible for seeing me to find out what was missed while absent!

Tests and quizzes must be made up ASAP- any announced test or quiz is expected to be made up the day you return.

Homework - the student will be given as many days to make up HW as he/she was absent.

Projects - will be announced; therefore will be due the day the student returns.

LATE ASSIGNMENTS

One letter grade will be deducted for each day late from the due date the assignment is turned in. After 3 days the grade will be an F.

CONSEQUENCES

If you fail to follow any of the classroom procedures the following can happen:

bulletVerbal warning
bulletTeacher detention (I love a clean room!)
bulletReferral to Ms. Saunders

In this class I will:

bulletBe on time! Chronic lateness = teacher detention
bulletBe respectful of teacher, classmates, and school
bulletBe courteous to teacher and classmates by listening and waiting my turn to speak by raising my hand and waiting to be called on
bulletCome to class prepared with all materials listed + my brain!
bulletComplete assignments on time.
bulletDo my own work -- this extends to simple worksheets as well as Semester Projects. If found copying another's work both will receive an F. This goes for other class's work also
bulletNot do other classwork in Psychology class unless time to do so has been granted by the teacher.
bulletUse the bathroom before class.
bulletNot ask to go to my locker during classtime.
bulletBring any food or drink into the classroom. I know that if I do I will be asked to throw it away.
bulletRefrain from using, peeking, or text messaging with any cell phone. Also any use of electronics (headphones, MP3 players, etc.) will result in a confiscation of such and held until June.
bulletHave fun and participate in class!!!
