AP History
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Students taking this course are EXPECTED to take the AP American History exam given in the spring. There will be a fee.
This AP course is designed to give students a grounding in the subject matter of American history and in major interpretive questions that derive from the study of selected themes. The program prepares students for intermediate and advanced college courses by making demands upon them equivalent to those of full-year introductory college courses.
The course will deal with the colonial period, the American Revolution, the Jacksonian period, the Civil War and Reconstruction, Populism and Progressivism, the New Deal, and international affairs and domestic change in the post-1945 period. The course will seek to give students a factual basis for interpreting issues.
