GCHS Guidance Services
Two full-time and two part-time faculty members, an administrative
assistant, a secretary, and a SAC working in the Student Personnel Services
Area are present to provide a full range of services for each student.
While concentration is on the academic aspect of the student's life,
these counselors do deal with the total person and try to help with
personal problems and any other area that the student might want to
discuss. Each student is invited to come to the Student Personnel
Services Area in the Dominican Center to avail himself/herself of these
services.
The following list is a sample of topics which are most often
handled:
- course offerings and any difficulty that a student may have with
them
- setting up schedules
- standardized testing (SAT's, PSAT's, ITED's)
- particular and general college requirements
- one's abilities, interests, aptitudes, etc.
- scholarships
- loans to finance college education
- personal concerns
Members of the faculty are always available to any student for
personal counseling at the student's request.

Mr. Ed Beckett, Assistant
Principal for Spiritual Formation, will have his office in the
Annex. Fr. Colozzi’s office will be in the Main Building. Dawn
Sponheimer is also present 3 days a week as our Student Assistance
Counselor to help students who may be burdened with crisis or
substance abuse issues.
Support/counseling services work only if there is communication as
well as cooperation between home and school. Please, let us know if
something is going on in your student's life that may have an impact
on academic performance or personal well-being.
